Inspiration

I wanted to build something that makes startup finance feel less overwhelming. Most founders and small teams have scattered numbers, messy spreadsheets, and no simple way to turn them into clear financial decisions.

What it does

FinSight helps users input company financial data, analyze valuation and credit strength, explore scenarios, and get finance-focused guidance in one workspace. It is designed to make investor readiness, budgeting, and financial planning much faster and more accessible.

How we built it

I built FinSight with a web frontend, a Cloudflare Worker backend, and a D1 database for storing profiles, scenarios, and chat history. The app includes financial analysis logic for DCF, credit scoring, budgeting, CSV import, and an AI advisor layer for contextual finance insights.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was getting the backend deployment, database wiring, and model integration working smoothly under time pressure. Another challenge was making the product feel polished and easy to understand instead of just looking like a technical finance tool.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud that the project became a real end-to-end product instead of just a prototype with isolated features. It can take company inputs, run meaningful analysis, save workspace data, and present the results in a way that feels useful and demo-ready.

What we learned

I learned a lot about shipping quickly, especially how important backend reliability, API setup, and deployment flow are in a hackathon. I also learned that strong presentation matters just as much as strong functionality when turning a technical build into a compelling product.

What's next for FinSight

Next, I’d want to improve the AI advisor, add stronger authentication, and make the platform feel even more personalized for each user. I’d also like to expand the analytics so founders can track financial health over time and generate more investor-ready outputs.
