Inspiration

The inspiration behind Finsight AI stemmed from a desire to revolutionize personal finance management for individuals across various demographics, particularly in regions like Africa where traditional financial infrastructure isn't as informative as needed. Witnessing the transformative potential of AI and decentralized technologies, we aimed to create a solution that empowers users to take control of their finances and financial data with confidence and ease.

What it does

Finsight AI is a comprehensive financial management platform powered by artificial intelligence and decentralized identity technology. It offers users personalized financial insights, budgeting assistance, and expense-tracking functionalities. Through intuitive interfaces and AI-driven chat support, users can efficiently manage their finances, optimize their savings, and make informed decisions about their financial goals.

How we built it

Finsight AI was built leveraging a combination of cutting-edge technologies, including AI, Web5 for decentralized identity (DID) meaning no need for traditional email and password for user identification and secure storage of users' financial data, and Mono (a Bank account linking platform to seamlessly access users' financial data). The backend infrastructure was developed using Convex, while the frontend interfaces were crafted using Nuxt PoweredBy Vue.js with Tailwind CSS as the CSS framework, ensuring a seamless user experience across devices. Integration with AI models for personal finance AI chat assistant was achieved using the GPT model. Additionally, we implemented decentralized identity protocols to ensure user data privacy and security throughout the platform.

Challenges we ran into

Throughout the development process, we encountered various challenges, including designing a first-time fully decentralized user app experience with Web5 and integrating complex GPT models into the platform, ensuring scalability and performance optimization, navigating the intricacies of decentralized identity technologies and Web5 seeing it is a new technology in beta mode, and integrating Convex with Nuxt as there isn't much support in the framework. There is an issue with the speed of data creation and fetching associated with the Web5 which will be fixed when the stable version releases. Overcoming these challenges required extensive research and innovative problem-solving approaches.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges, we're proud to have successfully developed a robust and user-friendly financial management platform that harnesses the power of AI and decentralized technologies. Our accomplishments include implementing advanced AI-driven features, establishing seamless integration with decentralized identity protocols, and creating an intuitive user experience that empowers individuals to take control of their finances.

What we learned

Throughout the development journey, we gained valuable insights into AI technologies, decentralized identity protocols, and the complexities of building scalable financial applications. We also honed our skills in frontend and backend development and user experience design. Additionally, we deepened our understanding of the financial industry and the importance of privacy and security in financial management platforms.

What's next for Finsight AI

Looking ahead, we plan to further enhance Finsight AI by incorporating additional AI-driven features and expanding support for various financial instruments and asset classes. We also aim to collaborate with financial institutions and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and explore opportunities for global expansion. Ultimately, our vision is to empower individuals worldwide, especially in Africa where financial illiteracy is a problem, to achieve financial well-being through accessible, intelligent, and secure financial management solutions.
