Inspiration
FinShiharai was inspired by the need for an all-in-one financial management tool that simplifies expense tracking, bill splitting, budgeting, and goal-setting. Many existing solutions were either too complex or lacked flexibility for everyday users. We wanted to create a platform that makes managing personal finances intuitive, helping individuals and groups stay organized and make informed financial decisions.
What it does
FinShiharai is a comprehensive financial management app that enables users to track expenses, split bills with groups, set budgets, and monitor investment goals. The app provides users with real-time financial insights, helping them stay on top of their spending, meet savings targets, and plan for future investments, all while making collaboration with others easy and efficient.
How we built it
FinShiharai was built using a microservices architecture for scalability and flexibility. The backend was developed with Java Spring Boot for core services like expense management, user accounts, and transactions. For the frontend, we used Angular and Tailwind CSS for a responsive and user-friendly interface. We also integrated real-time financial data for investment goal tracking.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges we faced was ensuring seamless synchronization between group accounts for bill splitting and managing transaction records across different services. Balancing real-time updates with system performance required careful consideration of database optimization and message handling between microservices.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud to have created a fully functional, scalable solution that addresses multiple aspects of personal financial management. We’re particularly excited about the intuitive bill-splitting feature, which simplifies group expenses, and the ability to set and track personalized financial goals effortlessly.
What we learned
Through the development of FinShiharai, we gained deep insights into microservices architecture, effective API management, and designing intuitive user interfaces. Additionally, we learned about the complexities of managing financial data and ensuring accurate real-time updates.
What's next for FinShiharai
Looking ahead, we plan to expand FinShiharai’s capabilities with features like AI-driven savings recommendations, personalized financial insights, and enhanced security measures. We also aim to introduce support for multi-currency tracking and integration with external financial institutions for seamless account synchronization.
