Inspiration

We noticed that financial literacy is often overlooked in traditional education, especially for teenagers. Many young people step into adulthood without a clear understanding of credit scores, taxes, budgeting, and saving. We wanted to create a fun, interactive, and daily-learning platform to make financial education as easy and exciting as a game — helping teens develop smart money habits from a young age.

What it does

FinQuest is a financial literacy web app where users complete daily mini-challenges and quizzes on topics like budgeting, credit, saving, and taxes. The app is designed to feel interactive and rewarding — users learn bite-sized financial concepts in a simple and engaging way, building their knowledge step-by-step.

How we built it

Frontend: Built using React.js to create a smooth, fast, and responsive user experience. Hosting: Deployed on Vercel at finquest-nine.vercel.app for easy global access. Design: Focused on a clean, minimalistic look using blue and white colors, making the app feel professional, fresh, and approachable. Version Control: Collaborated using GitHub to organize code and manage teamwork efficiently.

Challenges we ran into

Time Management: Balancing the coding, designing, and deploying tasks within the hackathon deadline was challenging. Frontend Bugs: Encountered unexpected bugs that required quick debugging and problem-solving. Learning New Tools: Deployment on Vercel and collaboration via GitHub were new experiences, but we quickly adapted. Prioritizing Features: We had many ideas but had to focus on delivering a solid core experience first.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Building a working, live web app within a short time frame. Designing an appealing and functional platform for teenagers to learn about money. Gaining hands-on experience with React.js, Vercel deployment, and team collaboration. Creating a strong foundation that can be expanded in the future.

What we learned

How to build and launch a web application quickly and effectively. The value of clear and simple user experience design. Practical skills in frontend development, version control, and real-world deployment. The importance of communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

What's next for FinQuest

Add Social Competition: Allow users to add friends, compete on leaderboards, and challenge each other to boost motivation. Integrate AI: Use AI to personalize the learning journey, recommend tailored challenges, and provide smart financial insights based on user progress. Add Flashcards: Introduce flashcards for quick, daily financial concept revision to make learning even easier and more interactive. Mobile App Launch: Build and launch a FinQuest mobile app so users can learn, review flashcards, and compete on the go.

Most financial literacy apps today are made for adults, and they often feel boring, complicated, or overwhelming for teens.

FinQuest is different because we made it fun, simple, and gamified — like a game you want to play every day, not just another school lesson.

We also break down complex topics like taxes and credit scores into quizzes and soon, AI-personalized lessons and bite-sized flashcards — making finance easier to understand and actually exciting to learn.

Plus, we reward users with badges, streaks, and future friend competitions, making it feel more like a challenge they want to win, not just another app to study from.

That's why teenagers would choose FinQuest over traditional apps.
