Project Story: FinPlay – Predict. Learn. Dominate. Inspiration The world of finance and crypto can be intimidating, especially for newcomers. We wanted to create a platform that makes learning about finance, risk, and probability not just accessible, but genuinely fun. Inspired by the popularity of crypto games, social trading, and the gamification of learning, we set out to build a platform where users can play, learn, and compete—all while developing real-world financial skills.
What it does FinPlay is a next-generation crypto casino and finance learning platform.
Users can play a variety of games (Crash, Slots, Wheel, Dice, Cards, Mines, and more) with virtual FinCoins. The platform features daily spins, achievements, leaderboards, and a virtual wallet. Players can track their stats, earn badges, and climb the weekly leaderboard. Social features like live win feeds, chat, and referral rewards keep the experience engaging. The UI is designed to be vibrant, modern, and mobile-friendly, with a focus on accessibility and fun. How we built it Frontend: Built with React and TypeScript, styled using Tailwind CSS for rapid, responsive, and consistent UI development. State Management: Context API for user authentication, game state, and wallet management. Routing: React Router for seamless navigation. Animations: Framer Motion and Tailwind for smooth transitions and microinteractions. Charts & Data: (Planned) Integration with chart libraries for stats and live data. Assets: Custom SVGs, Lucide icons, and Unsplash images for a premium, anime-inspired look. Deployment: Vercel for fast, global hosting and CI/CD. Challenges we ran into Balancing Game Logic and UI: Ensuring that each game felt fair, fun, and visually engaging required careful design and testing. State Management: Managing user data, game state, and real-time updates across multiple components was complex. Responsive Design: Making sure the experience was seamless on both desktop and mobile took extra effort, especially for interactive elements like the leaderboard and game cards. Feature Creep: With so many ideas (AI coach, live chat, skins shop), it was challenging to prioritize and focus on a polished MVP. Accomplishments that we're proud of Polished, Consistent UI: The app looks and feels like a real, modern crypto gaming platform. Engaging User Experience: Features like daily spins, achievements, and leaderboards keep users coming back. Scalable Architecture: The codebase is modular and ready for future features like real-time multiplayer, more games, and social integrations. Learning by Doing: We deepened our knowledge of React, Tailwind, and modern web app best practices. What we learned The Power of Gamification: Even simple finance concepts become engaging when wrapped in game mechanics. UI/UX Matters: A beautiful, accessible interface makes a huge difference in user retention and satisfaction. Iterative Development: Building in small, testable increments helped us catch bugs early and refine features quickly. Community Feedback: Early user feedback was invaluable for improving both usability and fun. What's next for FinPlay – Predict. Learn. Dominate. More Games: Add new game types and seasonal events. Real-Time Features: Live chat, multiplayer games, and real-time leaderboards. AI Coach: Personalized tips and analytics to help users improve. Mobile App: Native app for iOS and Android. Deeper Social Integration: Friend lists, challenges, and sharing. Crypto Integration: (Future) Real token rewards and blockchain-based leaderboards. FinPlay is just getting started.
