Inspiration

I’ve always been passionate about building tools that make life easier. During a hackathon, I saw an opportunity to combine my technical skills with real-world financial challenges. The idea was to build something that not only tracks expenses but also uses AI to suggest personalized plans and investment opportunities.

What it does

FinPilot is a mobile app was born out of a personal need: simplifying the journey to financial goals. Many people struggle with managing expenses, setting financial goals, and knowing where or how to invest. I wanted to create an intuitive tool that empowers users with clarity and actionable insights—without needing a finance degree.

How we built it

  • Tech Stack: React Native (Expo) for the mobile app, Supabase for authentication and database, Git for source control, and Groq powered with data from financial modeling prep for AI-driven financial planning.
  • Features:
    • Smart expense logging
    • AI-generated financial goals and strategies
    • Curated investment options
    • Profile dashboard with progress tracking
  • I also built a frontend landing page using React to introduce the app and drive early interest. Deployed on Netlify with custom domain claimed from IONOS.

Challenges we ran into

Startup Challenge: Supabase Scaling

I prepared FinPilot to scale to millions using Supabase by implementing robust authentication, real-time data handling, and optimized database design.

Deploy Challenge: Netlify Deployment

I deployed the web FinPilot application using Netlify.

Custom Domain Challenge: Entri & IONOS

Using Entri, I acquired a custom domain through IONOS and published FinPilot to the live web, making the app accessible via a professional domain.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Building FinPilot in just 10 days was intense—and incredibly rewarding. It showed me the true power of rapid prototyping. But honestly, this feels like more than just a prototype; it’s already evolving into a real product. Integrating third-party tools like Supabase and GitHub created a smooth, scalable foundation, and I could feel the harmony between AI-driven features and human-centered design throughout the process. I’m genuinely proud of what I’ve built.

What's next for FinPilot

The journey for FinPilot is just beginning. Next, I plan to expand its AI capabilities to offer even deeper financial insights and smarter, more personalized planning. The goal is to make FinPilot accessible to everyone—regardless of their financial background or location—and truly help users take control of their financial future.

Beyond budgeting and stock investing, I want to empower users with a wider range of investment opportunities, including areas like real estate, startups, and more. By combining intelligent algorithms with human-centered design, FinPilot aims to be the go-to financial companion for millions around the world.
