Inspiration

What inspired us to create this project was we're 2 broke college students who have no idea how to really budget or manage our finances properly, at least not like our parents who manage to hold on to every receipt or write down every transaction. That's when we were inspired to create something that we would want to use ourselves!

What it does

It shows your set weekly balance, visualizes your transactions, and allows you to chat with AI to receive guidance and better plan your weekly budget.

How we built it

We split up the work between the two of us evenly.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge we faced was trying to juggle volunteering with Shellhacks and actually finding the time and energy to hack.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to finish our first ever hackathon project, as well as learn all sorts of new technologies.

What we learned

We have some experience with Typescript and Tailwind but shadcn, app router, zustand, those were new concepts to us.

What's next for FinMate

Creating an in depth backend and database for our profiles.
