After hearing the prompt was to help improve an individual's quality of life, we came up with the idea to help users track their budgeting and personal finance through a simple-to-navigate application.
What it does: Track Income & Expenses: Input monthly income and categorize recurring expenses with a clean, intuitive interface Visual Budget Breakdown: View spending patterns through bar and pie charts Category Management: Add custom expense categories for thorough budget tracking
How we built it: Frontend: React with TypeScript for type safety and component reusability Styling: Tailwind CSS for rapid, responsive design implementation
Challenges we ran into: Setting up local environments Learning elements of React, TypeScript, and CSS for development GitHub merging conflicts between teammates (import errors, changing logic for consistency, etc.) Creating the dynamic categories where users can add/remove categories while maintaining math logic and keeping a clean design (too many zeroes, visual overlapping)
Accomplishments that we're proud of: Planning layout/architecture for website Getting out of comfort zone and learning new technologies (React, TypeScript) Making an application that has a clean visual design
What's next for FinMan Platform: Adding user settings More features, such as more colorful visual designs, ability to export to CSV, etc.
