Inspiration
We wanted to make something that simplified finances for young people, while making it fun and entertaining to learn.
What it does
A user can enter any paragraph or term - about signing up for a credit card, what good credit means, or retirement plans - and it will be put into very simple and relatable terms, with an option to be read aloud.
How we built it
We used javascript to code most of the API simplified text, and HTML and Tailwind CSS to make our website design.
Challenges we ran into
We had never coded in Javascript before, and we initially wanted to overlay the text on a video but couldn't get the video to be visible.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the design of our website--we wanted something that looked good as well as being functional.
What we learned
We learned a lot about using an API and coding in Javascript.
What's next for FinLit - Financial Translator
We want to improve our app by making the video functional and including more settings like audio speed.
