Inspiration
We were inspired by the significant financial challenges faced by many individuals and communities. We believe that access to quality financial education is crucial for improving financial well-being and empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their money. However, we observed that connecting individuals with qualified financial literacy educators can be challenging.
What it does
FinLit Connect is a platform that bridges the gap between financial literacy educators and those seeking financial education. It serves as a centralized hub for:
- Educators: To showcase their expertise, find potential clients (individuals and organizations), and manage their programs.
- Organizations: To find qualified educators for their target audience, manage programs, and track their impact.
- Individuals: To find personalized financial education resources and connect with qualified educators.
Key features include:
- Educator/Organization/Individual Profiles: Detailed profiles with relevant information.
- Matching Algorithm: Connects educators with the right audience based on their needs and preferences.
- Program Management Tools: For scheduling, tracking progress, and resource sharing.
- Impact Tracking: To measure the effectiveness of financial literacy programs.
- Community Forum: For discussion, resource sharing, and networking.
How we built it
We utilized the MEAN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, Angular.js, Node.js) to develop FinLit Connect.
- Backend: Node.js with Express.js for API endpoints, MongoDB for data storage, and Mongoose for interacting with the database.
- Frontend: Angular.js for building the user interface.
Challenges we ran into
- Developing a robust matching algorithm: Ensuring accurate and efficient matching between educators and learners based on various criteria.
- Ensuring data security and privacy: Implementing robust security measures to protect user data.
