Inspiration
Many students know how to study for exams but are not really taught how to manage money, budget properly, save, or avoid scams. Financial literacy is something that affects everyday life, but learning it is often boring or difficult to access.
This inspired me to build AtlasLearn AI — a platform that uses AI and interactive tools to make financial education easier, more engaging, and more practical for students.
I wanted to create something that goes beyond reading articles and instead allows students to actually learn, track progress, ask questions, and improve their financial habits.
What it does
AtlasLearn AI is an AI-powered financial education platform built to help students improve their understanding of finance.
Users can:
- Sign up and log in securely
- Track income, expenses, and savings
- View financial insights through a dashboard
- Chat with an AI Finance Tutor
- Generate personalized Financial Roadmaps
- Receive Financial Report Cards
- Detect possible scams using AI
- Take finance quizzes
- Earn badges, streaks, and progress levels
- Use the platform like an app through PWA support
The goal is to make learning finance feel interactive instead of stressful.
How we built it
I built AtlasLearn AI using modern web technologies to create a smooth and responsive experience.
Technologies used:
- Next.js
- TypeScript
- Tailwind CSS
- Firebase Authentication
- Google OAuth
- Firebase Firestore
- Gemini API
- Framer Motion
- Recharts
The platform was built by connecting multiple systems together.
Authentication handles user access.
Firebase stores user data and progress.
AI powers the tutor, roadmap generator, financial report system, and scam detector.
The dashboard connects directly with budgeting data to show live insights.
I also optimized it for mobile responsiveness and converted it into a Progressive Web App (PWA).
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was making all the features work together instead of feeling like separate tools.
Connecting budgeting data to the dashboard and generating meaningful AI recommendations took several iterations.
Another challenge was keeping the interface simple while adding many features.
I also worked through challenges like:
- Managing responsive layouts
- Connecting real-time updates
- Organizing data storage
- Improving performance
- Fixing build and deployment issues
These challenges helped improve both the product and my development process.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud that AtlasLearn AI became more than just a finance app.
Some things I am most proud of include:
- Building an AI-powered financial learning experience
- Creating personalized financial roadmaps
- Adding financial report cards with insights
- Developing an AI finance coach
- Connecting budgeting directly to analytics
- Adding gamification with streaks and achievements
- Making the platform installable as a PWA
Most importantly, I created something that can actually help students build better financial habits.
What we learned
Through building AtlasLearn AI, I learned a lot about both development and product design.
I learned:
- How to build scalable web applications
- How to integrate AI into real user experiences
- How authentication and databases work together
- How to design for mobile users
- How to improve user engagement using gamification
- How important simplicity and usability are
I also learned that building something useful is just as important as building something technically complex.
What's next for AtlasLearn AI
This project is only the beginning.
In the future, I want to improve AtlasLearn AI by adding:
- More personalized AI coaching
- Better financial planning tools
- Voice interaction
- School integration
- More analytics and insights
- Multi-language support
- Community challenges
- Financial learning certificates
The long-term goal is to make financial education more accessible and help students build confidence in managing money through technology.
