Inspiration
Uber and other big ride hailing services have revolutionized individual transport. BUT they charge a very high fee, cutting away a lot of profit from drivers who don't earn a lot of money anyways and increase prices for customers. WE FIND THIS UNFAIR!
What it does
We decentralize the process of ride hailing services like Uber or Bolt, cutting out the middleman and putting it back into the hands of the Riders and Drivers.
How we built it
We built on Solana and authenticate payments thru escrows in the Blockchain with a React Native Front end and a python REST API as our off-chain backend
Challenges we ran into
The implementation into React Native of Web3 authentication providers like "web3auth" and "magic" that bridge the worlds of web3 and web2 revealed themselves as bigger problems than thought because the libraries didn't work as expected. Although we managed to get a escrow contract up and running on the chain, communicating to it through React Native Expo and our auth providers unvailed itself as more difficult than expected.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We actually created a program OURSELVES that runs on the Solana devnet and can be used by anybody in the world. We believe that we incorporated all skills of all team members good and efficiently into our final project
What we learned
We learned to code with web3 application as well as a lot in general about Blockchain (particularly Solana)
What's next for CHAINRIDE
Write a more advanced escrow in Anchor and maybe try to roll it out at some point
