FinGenius Story

So I am a student who actually earns through side hustles, and while the world runs on financial literacy, I would read articles and watch videos but still struggled to channel my earnings and understanding. To tackle this and become self-sufficient and financially literate, I came up with the idea of FinGenius.

FinGen is basically an intelligent, AI-driven financial advisor and hedge planning platform designed to turn your goals into actionable strategies. Simply input your income, age, aspirations, and life plans—FinGen instantly crafts a personalized roadmap, whether you're saving for a dream vacation, a new home, or long-term security. It dynamically adapts to your changing needs, delivering real-time insights and portfolio suggestions with the precision of a hedge fund—minus the complexity. Smart, fast, and always on.

I built FinGen as a modern single-page app using React 18 and TypeScript for a smooth and scalable experience. The UI is styled with Tailwind CSS, and I used Chart.js for dynamic financial charts. It includes an AI-like chat interface that gives users personalized financial plans based on their input. I used Vite for fast builds, Netlify for deployment, and tools like ESLint and PostCSS to keep the code clean. The app is fully responsive, has smooth animations, and is optimized for performance as a Progressive Web App.

Some small challenges I faced:

-Syncing chart updates with user inputs in real-time

-Managing form state cleanly with TypeScript

-Making the chatbot feel interactive without a full backend

-Designing a UX that handles a wide range of users and financial goals while keeping it simple and intuitive

The build and UI/UX make me feel confident, and the feedback from a few users who tested it made me proud—especially when they found the interface smooth and easy to use.

Working on FinGen helped me understand what it takes to turn an idea into a real, usable product. I learned how to think from a user’s perspective—how to make something that’s not just functional but also intuitive and engaging. It also taught me how important clear planning, design thinking, and attention to user experience are when building something impactful.

More than just coding, I gained confidence in managing a project end-to-end—solving problems, making design choices, and staying focused through the small challenges that come with creating something meaningful.

What’s Next for FinGenius The next step for FinGenius is to make it more secure, scalable, and impactful. I plan to integrate end-to-end encryption and strong data protection to keep every user's financial information safe and private.

As the platform grows, I'll focus on scaling the backend to support more users without compromising performance. At the same time, I aim to refine the user experience to make financial planning feel smooth and accessible—even for those with no financial background.

The ultimate goal is to help people become truly financially independent, with the guidance of a trustworthy, AI-powered system designed around their goals.
