Inspiration

FinEdge was motivated by ordinary people like you and me who had to navigate the adult financial world blindly. With current institutions unable to give fundamental financial education to their students, such as loans and taxes, the youth are usually unprepared and pushed to make reckless financial decisions. Furthermore, the majority of them are unable to keep track of their spending and, as a result, wind up losing money without even realising it.

What it does

FinEdge assists newcomers at the grass-root level by offering simplified definitions of terminology via a LearnBot, also it assists grownups who require financial counselling by providing them with skilled financial counsellors at a very low cost. It gives you a budget tracker to watch your costs and learn how to master the art of budgeting, as well as alert notifications in accordance with the budget. Additionally, You may also keep up with the latest news and updates on topics ranging from finance to fintech.

How I built it

I began with the design thinking approach, which is based on correctly identifying and solving the right problem for users. It is a step-by-step process in which I began by clearly stating the problem statement and coming up with all possible solutions, which helped me get a complete picture of who my users are and what is something that can directly benefit them. And, I used Figma as a tool to prepare the prototype.

Challenges I ran into

The challenging part was coming up with a solution because there were additional features that might have been included, but I had to pick the handful that was most critical to get started with the product.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud that I was able to gather a solution to this problem and create a prototype mock-up through Figma.

What I learned

Design thinking approach for properly understanding the problem statement and narrowing down the solutions to the most relevant one.

What's next for FinEdge

I am aiming to reach a wider audience and make youth financially literate and self-dependent.
