Inspiration
Our inspiration came from not understanding how taxes worked growing up, and only vaguely knowing about it through out parents. We wanted to take this lack of real-world information not readily-provided and create a way to have this information more well-known
What it does
Our website provides easy to access information regarding personal financial topics such as how to create a checking or savings account, how to file federal income taxes, and how to engage with the stock market.
How we built it
We used Ruby, SCSS, HTML, and used GitHub actions for CI/CD and GitHub pages for hosting
Challenges we ran into
A major challenge we can into was from adding and implementing our Retirement Planning tab because of all the math it required. Additionally, we had to conduct a lot of research to add all the topics addressed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud that we created a website from scratch! Also that we were able to add texture to the backgrounds that let our website “pop”.
What we learned
We learned how to make a Ruby-based website and how to add discussion/forums.
What's next for FinEd - Financial Education
We hope to update and provide more information to people regarding further financial topics.
