Fine Catch: Turning Financial Fine Print into AI-Generated Visual Print Outs To Make It Easier To Understand.

Inspiration

Student-loan agreements hide important financial details in dense paragraphs, complicated tables, and tiny print. I wanted to build something that doesn't just read these documents, but transforms them into something people can actually see and understand.

What It Does

Fine Catch uses AI to analyze student-loan documents, identify important fees and clauses, explain complex terms, and calculate repayment costs. Its vision is to go beyond text summaries by transforming financial information into personalized, AI-generated illustrations, visual explanations, and printable reports.

Generative Image AI

The core innovation is turning complicated financial clauses into visual stories. Imagine selecting a confusing interest clause and receiving an AI-generated illustration that explains how interest accumulates, or transforming a collection of fees into a visual breakdown that makes the true cost of borrowing easier to understand.

Fine Catch aims to generate custom illustrations based on the user's actual document, making each explanation relevant to their specific loan rather than relying on generic educational graphics.

How It Works

Fine Catch follows five stages: See, Catch, Explain, Calculate, and Verify.

It analyzes document text and visual structure, detects important financial terms, explains them in simple language, calculates costs when sufficient information is available, and connects findings to their original sources.

The visual generation layer turns these verified findings into illustrated explanations and personalized financial guides. Numerical values remain grounded in document evidence and deterministic calculations rather than being invented by an image-generation model.

Challenges and Learning

A major challenge is connecting AI-generated visual explanations to reliable financial information. Images must make complex ideas easier to understand without misrepresenting the original agreement.

This project explores how document intelligence, generative image AI, and financial reasoning can work together to make complicated information more accessible.
