Inspiration

After completing my intermediate studies, I faced a challenge that countless students across Pakistan silently struggle with:

Which university is right for me?

I spent days searching manually, jumping from one website to another, comparing information that was often outdated, incomplete, or confusing. There was no single platform where I could find all universities in one place, public and private, from all provinces, with verified links and clear details. This lack of centralized information made a critical life decision extremely stressful and time-consuming. That experience stayed with me. It made me realize that if I, a tech-savvy student, felt this lost…

how difficult must it be for students from rural areas, first-generation learners, or those with limited internet access?

That pain and confusion inspired me to build FindUni a platform where every student, regardless of background, can explore all universities of Pakistan in one place and make confident decisions about their future.

What it does

FindUni serves as Pakistan’s most accessible university discovery platform. It lets students: Browse 260+ verified universities nationwide Filter by city, sector (public/private), and university name Access authentic official website links Explore a clean, modern, and distraction-free UI Save time, reduce confusion, and make smarter educational choices What once took days of manual searching can now be done in minutes.

How we built it

We built FindUni using: React.js+ Next js for a fast, responsive, component-based UI Tailwind CSS to keep the interface clean and minimal Custom logic for filtering, search, and user-friendly layout Manually collected and verified datasets of universities GitHub for version control and collaboration Deployment on Vercel for easy access We focused on simplicity, speed, and a design that feels intuitive even for first-time users.

Challenges we ran into

This project came with real challenges: Finding all universities manually across Pakistan Verifying if each website link was authentic or a duplicated/unofficial one Internet unavailability during research and data collection Fixing code conflicts during development Making sure the UI was fully responsive across screen sizes Creating a filtering system that feels fast and accurate Dealing with deployment issues and build errors Each obstacle taught us something new and made the platform more reliable.

What we learned

We learned the importance of: User-centered design Clean UI/UX principles Handling React component structure and state management Deploying projects efficiently Working with self-collected datasets Ensuring data accuracy and link verification Solving practical real-world problems with code Most importantly, we learned how a simple idea can create real educational impact.

What's next for FindUni

Our next steps include: Adding program-level filters (CS, Engineering, Medical, etc.) Integrating admission deadlines and notifications Adding scholarship listings AI-based university recommendation system Student reviews and ratings Mobile app version A more detailed profile for each university (faculty, fee structure, acceptance rate, etc.) FindUni will continue to evolve into a powerful educational guidance platform for students across Pakistan.
