Inspiration
We wanted to attempt a hardware hack for the first time on a hackathon.
What it does
We created a game, that utilizes micro:bits to recreate the warmer / colder finding game. You can find one micro:bit using the other one by seeing the changes in signal strength that are represented by leds.
How I built it
We used JavaScript, Python and micro:bits
Challenges I ran into
Getting the python library to work. When we first started developing the project we started developing it in python. After a while, we found out, that the python library doesn't work.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We got it to work and we used some quite advanced mathematics to calculate the distance by signal strength changes.
What I learned
That playing with hardware is as exciting as it is to do purely software-based hacks. It's a nice experience to be able to hold the thing you're working on in your hand, not just see it on the screen...
What's next for FindIT
Add beeping sound to indicate proximity, polish the distance breakpoints to make it more accurate and intuitive
Built With
- arm
- hex
- javascript
- micro:bit
