FindingZen

Inspiration

There are several individuals that deal with challenges or difficult personal experiences regarding their own well-being. As the stigma around mental health is loosened, technology also plays a large role in raising awareness about mental health issues. Several times it is gone unnoticed or unrealised, but they can be determined even through a regular daily schedule of an individual. We believe that by providing an experience for the users to assess their own habits, they can gain a better understanding of their wellness.

What it does

FindingZen caters to users' health and wellness by serving as a guide to better their well-being. We strive to do this by tracking and monitoring patterns regarding users' physical activity, sleep schedule, water and food intake, taking into consideration menstruation cycles as well. Our mission is to provide users with insight on ways to foster personal growth through their daily lives. Our website allows for users to select different options regarding questions related to health and wellness habits, and returns recommendations for the users to follow.

How we built it

We started out our project by brainstorming ideas and we eventually began building our website using HTML and JavaScript. Through using these in Virtual Studio Code, we were able to implement a functional, interactive website that allows users to answer questions, enabling them to get recommendations about what to do next.

Challenges we ran into

It was quite difficult to accomplish everything we initially intended to do in such little time. We definitely believe that this website could have been much further developed, potentially even to a user-friendly app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the teamwork and consistent effort we put in toward moving forward with the project. We were able to equally contribute to the project and expand our skills on HTML and JavaScript, which neither of us had too much experience working with prior to PearlHacks.

What we learned

We learned to not give up on our idea, despite not being able to reach the full potential it had due to time constraints. However, we were still able to have fun and learn in regards to programming.

What's next for FindingZen

In the future, FindingZen will be able to allow for more specifics, enabling much more personalized recommendations for each user. It will also provide weekly and monthly reports for the user to analyze.
