Inspiration

Finding Purrrpose originally started as an idea for a children’s book in August of 2025. I had this idea about a small cat going on an adventure to discover where he belonged and what his purpose might be.

As I began drawing the characters and building out the world, the idea started becoming much bigger than a book. I realized it could become an interactive experience where children could explore the story instead of only reading it.

ChatGPT and Codex inspired me to push the idea further than I originally thought possible. They gave me the opportunity to learn new skills, experiment with new technology, and turn an idea that once felt out of reach into something real.

What it does

Finding Purrrpose is an online children’s game about discovering your own personal purpose.

Players guide Purrrpose through a soft, colorful world where they explore different scenes, search for clues, meet new friends, and solve simple challenges.

Along the way, Purrrpose helps the characters he meets. Every time he helps someone, he collects another piece of his heart meter.

The main idea behind the game is that purpose is not always something you find by only looking for yourself. Sometimes you discover it through curiosity, kindness, friendship, and the ways you help others.

How we built it

I used ChatGPT to help me learn about online games, game mechanics, storytelling, player progression, and how to turn a children’s story into something that could be played.

ChatGPT Image 2.0 helped me create detailed art concepts and in game artwork for the characters, locations, and environments.

I then used Codex to help me turn those ideas into a working online game and build the rich 3D plush world of Finding Purrrpose.

The entire process has involved drawing, writing, designing, experimenting, coding, and learning how all of those pieces work together.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was that I did not come into this project knowing how to build a game.

I had to learn how game mechanics work, how players move through a story, how clues and rewards should be presented, and how to keep the experience simple enough for younger children.

Another challenge was keeping the artwork and characters consistent while building a world that felt soft, handmade, colorful, and full of personality.

There was also a lot of trial and error involved in turning visual concepts into something that could actually function inside an online game.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud that Finding Purrrpose grew from a simple children’s book idea into a playable online experience.

I am also proud of the world we created. The characters, environments, colors, and plush visual style all feel connected and give the game its own personality.

More than anything, I am proud that I continued learning and building even when I did not know exactly how to complete every step.

Seeing Purrrpose move through a world that began as a drawing has been one of the most rewarding parts of the project.

What we learned

I learned that building a game involves much more than creating characters and artwork. It requires storytelling, design, player interaction, problem solving, testing, and a lot of patience.

I also learned that I do not have to understand every part of a project before I begin. I can learn as I go, ask questions, experiment, and improve the idea one piece at a time.

ChatGPT and Codex helped me push beyond what I already knew and explore new opportunities for creating and learning.

What's next for Finding Purrrpose

The next step is to continue expanding the world of Finding Purrrpose with more scenes, characters, clues, and opportunities to help friends.

I also want to continue improving the game mechanics, artwork, animations, and overall player experience.

The goal is to create a complete adventure that feels fun and inviting for children while still sharing a meaningful message about kindness, curiosity, friendship, and discovering your own purpose.
