Project status
Find Your Next is a work in progress. The Qloo integration is implemented as a server-side adapter but has not yet been connected to an event API key or verified against live Qloo responses. A public repository and final browser testing are still pending. This draft is not ready to submit.
Inspiration
Finding something to watch, read or play often means searching separate catalogs, while choosing with friends adds another decision. We wanted a place where people can collect interests they choose to share and find a useful starting point together.
What it does
People can search anime and TV information from TVmaze, books from Open Library, and PC game offers from CheapShark. They can save items, enter favorite titles or artists, and compare two to four game lists for exact shared titles and an available time window. Interests and group inputs are stored in the browser on that device.
The intended Qloo workflow resolves selected interests to exact, unambiguous Qloo entities, requests related items across categories, and shows the named interests behind a result only when Qloo provides that explanation. Qloo discovery is currently disabled until the key and quota protections are configured.
How it is built
The app uses JavaScript, Node.js and serverless routes on Vercel. The public catalog adapters use TVmaze, Open Library and CheapShark. The interface includes an Anatomy-based selection counter; it shows the number selected rather than a fabricated taste score. TVmaze data is attributed under CC BY-SA, and CheapShark links go through its required redirect.
Challenges and lessons
Catalog titles may be ambiguous, so the Qloo adapter rejects ambiguous exact matches rather than silently guessing. Prices can change, and event dates, ticket availability, streaming availability and creator willingness to collaborate are not verified by the current app. The device-local design does not yet synchronize profiles across devices.
What comes next
Obtain and securely configure the Qloo event key, add durable rate limiting and a global API budget, verify live recommendations, test the full desktop and mobile journeys, and publish the repository with its MIT license. User impact and recommendation quality have not yet been measured.
