Inspiration

What inspired us to create "Find Your Good Neighbor" was to spread the knowledge of all types of insurance that State Farm provides. Our entire team didn't have much comprehension of insurance, so making our app in a fun and interesting format was important to us so that we could learn easier. Using the dating app formula we'd be able to attract many Gen Z people who are now going into the workforce and deciding which insurance to opt into.

What it does

Our iOS and Android App is simulated to present each type of insurance, allowing the user to either swipe right to move on to the next insurance that State Farm provides - and swipe left to make the user "match" with that insurance, allowing them to learn more about that insurance in their matches page. The app also, much in the "dating app simulator" format, allows you to swipe up to see a small bio on whatever insurance that shows up.

How we built it

Originally using Android Studio to display our app, we switched to Figma - building a webapp using iPhone frames. We then embedded our html code into Velo by Wix in order to create a landing page for our project.

Challenges we ran into

Finding the right platform - Attempting to use android studio, xcode, and js was difficult for us and allowing the right frontend implementation. Drag compatibility - Finding the correct animations in the UX code through figma was a difficult process for us. Figma to code - We ran into multiple roadblocks when applying the vision we had for our app from Figma to fully functioning code using React Native.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to produce a prototype webapp that can be used on iOS and android. Accomplishing a successful landing page was something we were very proud of as well, reminiscent of Apple's gradient websites.

What we learned

Implementing a Figma prototype's embedded html into Velo by Wix. Basics of Android Studio and Javascript React Native.

What's next for Find Your Good Neighbor

Transitioning our Figma prototype to a functioning iOS and Android app using React Native.
