Inspiration

As current high school and college students, we know how frustrating it can be navigating the college search process. Because of this, we decided to create a website for prospective college students to conduct research into what majors and colleges they want to pursue.

What it does

This website includes two major section: college and major.

The college section lists the top 15 universities in the United States, each embedded with a link that directs you to a page with the stats of their applicants, such as average GPA and SAT/ACT scores.

The major section lists the top 15 most popular majors embedded with a link that directs you to a page with the top 5 undergraduate schools for those majors.

We offer a newsletter subscription, an application builder, and 1:1 counseling sessions with a counselor. Our website includes an online booking service to schedule these counseling sessions.

Our website includes a chatbot where you can ask questions and receive a reply from a team member.

How we built it

We used the website builder WiX to construct our website.

Challenges we ran into

We had a lot of data for our universities and majors, so it was hard to enter them under the limited time we had. WIX was an unfamiliar platform for all our members, so it took us some time to accustom ourselves with its functions

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to create a multi-faceted website for prospective college students to kickstart their journey to higher education. From preliminary research to counseling sessions, our website is an all-in-one platform for discovering your passions and providing guidance through the college app process.

What we learned

We learned to think from the perspective of the user to incorporate relevant resources for them to use. We also learned the value of teamwork and delegating tasks to work efficiently and complete the website on time.
