Find Your Flock 🐦
What Inspired Us
We started by using Zymix as real users — and we kept noticing the same moment: you match with someone, you see their profile, and then... nothing. The blank message box stares back at you. Not because you don't want to talk, but because you don't know how to start.
The problem isn't finding people. The problem is the first message.
We also noticed that the apps Gen Z actually sticks with aren't the ones with the most features — they're the ones with a daily ritual. Something small, personal, and just surprising enough to make you open the app again tomorrow. Wordle. BeReal. Your Spotify Wrapped. We wanted to build that for Zymix.
The idea clicked when we looked out the window at a London pigeon and thought: that bird has no anxiety. It just exists. What if your social identity could feel like that?
What We Built
Find Your Flock is a daily AI-powered identity feature for Zymix. Every day, you take one photo — your face, your surroundings — and our AI assigns you a bird.
Today you might be a London Mallard: Professional Chiller. The world is rushing. Deadlines, notifications, everyone moving fast. But you're floating. So does sitting by a lake doing absolutely nothing.
Tomorrow you might be a rare Cambridge Seagull: Meaning-Seeker. Or, if you're lucky, the ultra-rare Swan — just 1% chance.
Your bird lives on your profile. It sparks conversations. It gives everyone — friends or strangers — an instant reason to reach out: "What bird did you get today?"
Core Features
- Capture — Take a daily photo; AI reads your vibe, location and appearance to assign your bird, personality description, talent tags and today's quest
- Bird Pals — Your bird shows on your profile; friends and matches can see it and use it as a conversation opener
- Field Guide — 8 birds to discover across four rarity tiers (R → SR → SSR → UR), with the Swan at 1%
- Flock Map — A UK map that marks every city you've visited and the bird you were there
- Memories — A photo archive organised by date, each entry stamped with your bird of the day
How We Built It
We used Manus as our primary build and deployment platform — prototyping, iterating and shipping entirely within it. No GitHub connection required, and the built-in checkpoint system meant we could roll back instantly whenever something broke, which was invaluable during rapid hackathon iteration.
For AI, we used z.ai to power the core experience: analysing the user's daily photo, reading location and visual context, and generating the bird assignment, personality description, talent tags and quests dynamically. Every result is generated fresh — no two days feel the same.
The UI was designed to feel native to Zymix — clean, warm, and playful — with the bird card as the hero moment the whole flow builds toward.
