Find the Words

Inspiration

Find the Words came out of a need to declutter my desk and bring all of my rhyming dictionaries, thesauruses, and contextual references into one pack within Coda. I spent a lot of time writing and I always wanted a contextual app to suggest modifying words or rhymes in real time as I had a writing session. Coda Pack Studio made that a reality.

What it does

The pack has several formulas that can return adjectives or nouns that correspond to a source word of your choosing. It can also quickly find several rhymes if you are writing in a context that needs constant inspiration in rhyme form. Finally, it also allows you find similar words or modifiers for that word given a certain topic. Want to know all of the adjectives for ocean in the context of love? Sure!

Challenges we ran into

This was my first attempt ever at writing JavaScipt to return a JSON response from an API. This was the gateway pack for me.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am extremely proud of the content I created with the use of this pack. I have been able to move from inspiration to completed stories, poems, and songs much more quickly.

What we learned

The lessons learned from actually interacting with an API are invaluable. This process also taught me how to navigate the Coda Pack SDK and Pack Studio which is proving to be a limitless tool.
