Find My Room

Inspiration

I totally admit that my project is not the unique one but can be a good one to grab users. My source of inspirations are e-property selling platforms like no-broker etc. These platforms are good at their place but a huge problem of renting rooms in cities is still there. A lot of students and workmen just need a simple one room and kitchen for minimal and affordable price some time it is ok for them to share the place with someone that cuts their beget too.

so i came with "Find My Room"

What it does

This is a simple project (app and web) that facilitate people to list their rooms / shops / properties to rent. on other hand provide feature to be searched by users. The app focus on user friendly and easy room listing. The app uses the rating and comment system to expose and transparency to customers.

The app do not have the feature to show the photos of the property. We promote direct buyer and owner interaction without acting like a broker. The specific details are available in form of fields provided by owner.

The app is planed to work on a model of business to generate revenue by verifying the owners profile like a blue tick or something, for user the main source of revenue will be the feature to find room mates to share in a area.

How we built it

The whole project is build in "Flutter" for more effective and time efficient production. For database and management i am using API call form well know backend service provider AppWrite and GitHub for some features.

Challenges we ran into

The major challenge was to adapt a unique method to filter the content based on locality. The best method was to use distance calculator and fetch the results based on radius that will allow user to search for any desirable area along with his current location automatically but due to limited resources the filter method has been shifted to region select filters but the coordinates are being collected to implement it later on.

To make the app really useful it very important to get the data as much as possible form the people. For that it is required some ads or publicity but that's not a big deal.

Another major tip was to get all the major and popular locality under a city that a user would expect in the app (data collection). i use internet to find the data and to make it updated any time without changing the app internal data i used GitHub files to serve the data as API.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The is good and available for both android and web. Use data is secure. It has a beautiful and simple UI.

What we learned

I have leaned to how manage the code in flutter and dart language. I learned the code manipulation to adapt it for two different screen sized one for mobile and other web without changing the actual logic. I learned to work with API and use GitHub and as API service for free and always to serve data as Json objects. I learned how to handle exception when the data is not fetched correctly.
