Inspiration

To help young adults such as myself find more interests, and to find fields that still incorporate their skills, while still being useful and less saturated. I remember when I was younger I used to watch. I remember his hobbies he was interested in were art and puzzles. Most people would have assumed he went into, well, art or something like game development, but he became a dentist. He found art in the way he has to work with the teeth, and every person was almost like a puzzle to him. We wanted to help people also have this experience, and find something they are passionate about, even if its in an unlikely place.

What it does

Our project helps users find more meaningful jobs by utilizing AI to recommend and promote positive skills the user can learn through hobbies they will enjoy. These hobbies give the AI feedback to then recommend jobs that the user will enjoy, get meaningful pay from, and be within their skillset. This also benefits industries too as they will gain more motivated employees who will be committed and skilled in their jobs.

How we built it

We built the main front end in next.js using Vercel. Claude was used for a majority of the data gathering, processing, and sanitization. Claude also performed some web-scraping. Vapi is not complete, but is planned to provide an alternative way to perform the survey and receive feedback.

Challenges we ran into

Neither of us know web-development, nor prompt engineering, so this project was largely out of our comfort zone. In the middle of the night, the agent token we were using stopped working, and we had to scrap the idea of using agents. Vapi's website had some issues that prevented us from completing several aspects of its implementation in our project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are both very proud to have been able to create the project as well as having all of its main functionality on display. We are also proud of how much we learned about APIs, Prompt Engineering, Web-dev and Next.js and we now have a new found appreciation for them.

What we learned

We learned a large amount of web development as well as APIs, Prompt Engineering, Front-end Development.

What's next for Find-My-Path

We plan to finish implementing Vapi, and then creating a backend to store user information that persists between sessions.
