Fincentive

Inspiration

I wanted to increase the financial literacy in my community. A lot of my friends were interested in the stock exchange but didn't want to risk losing their money.

What it does

It is a virtual stock exchange. It's a risk-free way of investing.

How we built it

I'm using live data from the yahoo finance API and presenting it in the form of a line chart. I used streamlit for the UI.

Challenges we ran into

Pyrebase wasn't working so I had to use Stack Overflow to solve it. The error was "Python module requests.packages.urllib3.contrib.appengine not found".

What we learned

I learned how to use firebase for the login page.

What's next for Fincentive

I'm interested in using sentiment analysis to predict the future positions of stocks and testing my theory on the virtual stock exchange.
