Inspiration

Our project is a prototype of an application to help young generation who are getting into the society. They will have to get through themselves about their finances when they start preparing of independent. For this problem, we focus on how we could help them in that periods as well as attracting those tech-savvys.

What it does

The app, FinBuddy, is basically a social media based. We combine millennials and Gen Z&Alpha into our FinBuddy community as mentors or mentees. Mentors can share their experience and information related to the financial topics while getting reward of their premium SunLife insurance. Mentees could be more focus on socializing in the community and get points for build-in simple planting game. By attracting both generations who are having experience while others not.

Challenges we ran into

First, we decided to take the given business cases from SunLife since we couldn't have enough time for our personal assignments to do before starting hacking. But, the given case was also difficult to understand since we're not familiar with SunLife. We first had to fully understand about the company, and the situation. Second, lack of experience of UI/UX took a lot of time to get familiar with the basic tools and components in Figma.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• We were just two people in our group, and one of the members had no prior experience with Figma. But still we made a good-looking prototypes.

What we learned

• We totally focused on how to be more interactive with Figma.
• As programming students, we didn't have much experience about UI/UX, and we could have an extra experience to understand about front-end.
• We expect this experience will be helpful when we think build our web or application on more user-side perspective.

What's next for FinBuddy

• Expanding the community features with discussion forums and expert Q&A sessions.
• Adding AI-powered to provide personalized financial advice.
• Launching partnerships with financial institutions to offer exclusive benefits to users.
