Inspiration

We’ve all had that moment—looking at our bank balance and wondering where did all my money go? Most of us were never really taught how to budget, save, or plan our finances in a way that actually made sense. That’s what inspired FinBot. We wanted to create a tool that felt less like homework and more like having a money-smart friend who’s here to help, not judge.

What it does

FinBot is a friendly chatbot that guides users through the basics of personal finance—things like creating a budget, understanding needs vs. wants, setting savings goals, and reviewing spending habits. It keeps things simple, supportive, and a little fun (yes, even finance can be fun!).

Think of it as your personal financial buddy that explains money stuff in a way that actually makes sense.

How we built it

We designed FinBot using a conversational format to keep things engaging and beginner-friendly. From writing natural, human-like prompts to choosing the right visuals and emoji support, everything was done to make the experience feel welcoming and stress-free.

We focused on clear, structured budgeting advice that unfolds step by step—because we know how overwhelming it can feel at first.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was figuring out how much is too much when it comes to financial information. We didn’t want to overwhelm users with details, but we also didn’t want to oversimplify.

Finding that balance—between being helpful and being approachable—took a lot of testing, feedback, and tweaking the tone to sound just right.

We’re proud that we created something that doesn’t feel intimidating. FinBot is more than just a tool—it’s a resource that actually connects with people.
