Inspiration

When I first heard the prompt for the hackathon, a financial literacy website was the first thing that came to my mind, this is because I'm currently going to go to grade 12 and I need to start planning for my future and this includes money, weather that's paying for university, wanting to get a job, etc. But I don't know a lot about financial literacy and this can cause problems for me, so I built a website about it.

What it does

This website is designed to help users learn about financial literacy. It includes information on what financial literacy is, why it's important, and resources for further learning. The website also has a quiz that users can take to test their knowledge of financial literacy.

How we built it

The website is built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The front end is built using Bootstrap, and the back end is built using Flask. The website also uses the Owl Carousel library for the slideshow.

Challenges we ran into

I am not that good of a programmer and I didn't know how to create a lot of the stuff I relied on google, but Google doesn't always solve the problem, sometimes it solves one and then messes up something else. This was also my first time using Visual Studio to create a website, so the interface was something I had to figure out before I started coding.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am really happy with how the website is looking so far, I am proud of the overall aesthetic and visuals.

What we learned

I learned a lot of new stuff while coding this website I mostly use Java, which is what I was taught in school and javascript was a bit different and new. I also learned about how to embed slide shows and google forms on my website.

What's next for Financial Literacy Website

This website is not finished at all, I would definitely like to add more to the home page and add more resources. Also, my website is more about people learning in Canada but I would like to extend that to people over the world.
