Inspiration

People spend hours a day researching and worrying about their stock portfolio. Are there any other choices they can make to minimize losses? What direction is the market going to go? Mornings can be fully consumed just with catching up on the latest developments. What if you could have a one-stop daily podcast that updates you on your portfolio developments, all while you are comfortably enjoying your breakfast cereal...

What it does

Every morning The Stockscast provides you with a personalized two-host podcast of how your investments have fared in the previous day. You hear how the market moved, how it has impacted you, what you can expect in the future, and what options you have to alter your strategy in the most effective manner.

How we built it

Claude code all the way! With some human touches here and there~ It uses the Claude API to transcribe a script and uses the Elevenlabs API to synthesize the voices of the podcast speakers

Challenges we ran into

Getting accurate news data about any public company is tough. The yfinance python package came in clutch in our most dire times. It conveniently provides information about exchange rates, stock tickers, and news articles about them. Also, since the stocks functionality is not exposed in a developer API for Bunq, we had to come up with a simulation for somebody's portfolio. This could easily be replaced by Bunq's own API.

What's next for The Stockscast

Expansion into a video modality. What if you could see the presenters for better immersion, and what if you could see the graphs they are referring to, the news articles they mention, or even, Jeff Bezo's magnificent bald head! What's more, what if you could interact in real time with The Stockcast? Say the presenters mention a stock and you wish to know more about it. You. Could. Just. Ask!
