Inspiration
As college students, financial literacy is important and tracking finances can get hard; especially if you have multiple accounts. This dashboard brings everything together so you can keep track of all your finances.
What it does
Collects all your bank statement data, removes all sensitive information, and extracts transaction data to a JSON which is then uploaded to the dashboard. The frontend dashboard gives a more readable and easily understandable view of your transactions and finances. Integrate an AI chatbot that is able to simplify everything to plain english and give better recommendations to manage your finances.
How we built it
Upload multiple files to the dashboard which are then extracted and parsed into jsons that can then be split by categories and merchants and send it back to the dashboard for a more comprehensive visual view of the expenses. Primarily uses python for the backend with Anthropic API to convert everything to a standard JSON format and split into categories.
Challenges we ran into
Git merge conflicts AI hallucinations Communication challenges Time management Incorrect parsing when tried using a local model
Accomplishments that we're proud of
successful API calls the design of the frontend correct parsing and splitting by categories The math being correct AI answering questions with almost 100% accuracy
What we learned
Communication Teamwork and splitting the work how to deal with API calls and DNS lookups Promping the API properly so there are no holes and mistakes in the final files
What's next for Financial Dashboard
Deploy it on a public domain and integrate user login data so people don't have to upload their statements multiple times.
