Financial Advisor AI Generator

What inspired us?

As a team of 3 college students from USF who are also new immigrants to this country, we understand how difficult it is for people, especially college students, young adults, and immigrants to accustom to the new credit system, which makes budgeting even more challenging. Any mistake can lead to long-lasting negative impacts on the person's records and people could easily go indebted without any preventional measure. In light of the revolution of modern technology, artificial intelligence is becoming more helpful, and being able to take advantage of it advances people's life quality greatly.

Technology

Powered by OpenAI's GPT-4 artificial intelligence model, with a React.js user interface and FastAPI backend in Python, our application comprehends the user's financial situation and suggests customized actions to take to maximize benefits and reduce costs.

User Profile: Collects user financial information, including:
- Checking account balance
- Savings account balance
- Annual Percentage Yield (APY)
- Credit card balance
- Credit card interest rate
- Credit card due date
- Future expenses with dates and amounts
AI-Driven Advice: Utilizes advanced algorithms to analyze the user's financial data and provide tailored advice for financial optimization.
Recommendations: Generates actionable recommendations, including but not limited to:
- Saving strategies
- Investment suggestions
- Debt repayment plans
- Expense management tips
- Budgeting guidance

Challenges

Within the scope of ShellHacks 2023, and the shortage of members, we were able to sketch out our meaningful concept into a working application with basic, yet, crucial functionalities.

Future Improvement Plan

Improve integration with bank accounts and credit cards so that the application can retrieve the data from the bank's platform easily.
Allow customization for the recommendation where users can interact with the application to provide more insights into the suggestions. For example, some users prefer having a backup fund over paying debts early.
Enhance security for the program which will give the program the possibility to execute the recommendation itself based on the permission from user.
Improve user interface to make it more user-friendly as the ultimate goal of this application is to make budgeting easy for people.
