Finance Chicks

Inspiration

As young women ourselves who are also in college we know how challenging it is to keep up with financial information. When it comes to saving spending and investing it’s hard to get access in a male dominated financial space. This inspired us to create a website where we can have women come and learn about important monetary advice.

What it does

With finance chicks we created a website that is a safe space for women to find resources and information on how to improve their monetary knowledge. This website includes different types of investing and ways to control you spending habits. Even though the website is geared towards woman we are open to all genders access and using finance chicks.

How we built it

We built it with basic html for the website structure. We used java script for the responsiveness and for it work smoothly. We also used Javascript for the chatbot to integrate it into html. Then we used an OpenAi AP key to generate responses for our chatbot. We used visual studio code as our main platform to code. We also used live share as we were collaborating on different parts of the code.

Challenges we ran into

As we were trying to generate responses for the chatbot we kept running into errors. We found that the Api key we were using was actually expired. When we used a different api key our chatbot was able to work properly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of being able to create this website that can function the way we want it. This is also our first time creating an ai Chatbot using an API so were proud that we were able to include it in our project.

What we learned

We learned how to take people a questions and concerns about financial literacy and turn it into a project they can benefit from. We also learned how to create a chatbot using an API and integrating it into html.

What's next for Finance Chicks

As we continue our journey of improving financial literacy we want to include more features in our website. We want to include more links and pages of information. In the future We also want our users to be able to make account with us and track what they've read and include their own comments on what we've posted. This way we can see who is engaging with our website and get direct user feedback. We hope that finance girls can help every woman out there that has trouble with managing their money.
