Inspiration
Our inspiration for ChatBase Connect came from the inefficiency of businesses buried in repetitive customer queries and valuable knowledge hidden in static documents. We envisioned a world where every piece of information could become an intelligent, conversational expert.
What it does
ChatBase Connect allows businesses to transform their proprietary knowledge into a custom AI chatbot. Users easily build and manage their knowledge base, then embed the chatbot for instant, accurate, and context-aware answers.
How we built it
We built ChatBase Connect with the incredible assistance of Bolt, our AI app-building agent, which truly showcased its remarkable capabilities. Bolt laid the foundation using vite.js, React, and MongoDB, implementing the core RAG pipeline, vector embeddings, and semantic search.
Challenges we ran into
Optimizing the RAG pipeline's accuracy and performance was a continuous challenge. Managing LLM API costs and rate limits during development also required careful strategy.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are immensely proud of successfully building a fully functional, end-to-end AI chatbot platform that solves a real-world business problem. Creating an intuitive interface that simplifies complex AI processes for non-technical users is a significant achievement.
What we learned
We gained invaluable insights into designing robust RAG architectures and the critical role of prompt engineering in shaping AI behavior. Collaborating with Bolt also taught us the immense potential of AI-assisted development, streamlining complex tasks.
What's next for ChatBase Connect Next, we plan to enhance ChatBase Connect with multi-modal knowledge ingestion (e.g., PDFs, videos). We also aim to develop advanced analytics dashboards for insights into chatbot performance. I already got some queries from some of my friends to do a video RAG.
