Finagotchi

Inspiration

Our inspiration came from playing on a little plastic toy as a kid. Looking back at it, it didn't really make much sense why a whole generation was so hooked onto it.

What it does

Just like how tamagotchis brought light upon having the responsibility of owning a pet without spending much money on it, Finagotchi teaches you about the beauty of saving money, and learning how to differentiate your needs and wants.

How we built it

We decided that React and Cite were the perfect tools to help design our product. Along with the help of an iPad and creative thinking, we had custom characters for our project.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge that we encountered was that none of us actually knew how to set up or even use React at the beginning. During the hours that we spend trying to set up react, we were really swimming through uncharted waters. After hours and hours of hair-pulling research time, we managed to pull through!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As developers, developing software isn't our only strength. We feel like creativity is our greatest feat. As a result of our shared humor and weirdly imaginative behavior, ALL of our characters, colors, design were made from pen!

What we learned

We had learned React literally yesterday, and the only programming languages that we've tinkered with at school has been Java and C++ and C. We had absolutely no experience working with any web development languages/software. Seeing JavaScript and TypeScript for the first time really took us back. While we were attempting to set up React, we saw things like Vanilla and a whole bunch of colors we might've forgotten but will definitely put research into
