Inspiration

Dual purpose of giving insights to layman about Macro economic indicators and enabling easy visualization for relative comparison.

What it does

It combines data from multiple datasets and provides insights that can be easily understood by the a school kid. Macro economic data are mostly visualized over the different time frame but we wanted to create a solution that would enable easy visualization of the data for all countries on peer to peer comparison.

How we built it

We sourced the datasets for economic indicators from Crux, applied data munging, data wrangling using Python, numpy, pandas to analyse data and finally used marplot libraries to create graphs

Challenges we ran into

Working with small data set as data is available from only 260 countries and single data point for each year. Data cleaning was another challenge as not all data sets had complete or consistent data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our first Hackathon submission

What we learned

Without any financial background, I was able to understand the dataset and the solution

What's next for the project

Same framework can be used to any number of financial datasets which have comparable data from multiple variables This could also be used in developing a credit scoring of countries by allocating suitable weight ages to the scores and used as a proxy for credit ratings.
