Inspiration

What it does

Ecosketch is a tool for developers and urban planners to adopt sustainable infrastructure using metrics such as Urban Heat Indexes and more. Our product enables a quick sketch up of possible solutions to meet the needs of communities and tackle issues regarding climate change. Creating more suitable environments for communities and making the space viable for future developments.

How we built it

Using APIs from Google (Gemini, Maps), we find suitable areas of development by analyzing the UHI values and local zoning laws. Then using 3JS we rendered in a 3D model and ran the streetview images through Gemini to provide insight on changes.

Challenges we ran into

DATA DATA DATA! Data is always a challenge when building a product that has real world implications. For our product we required multiple data sets including urban heat indices, zoning maps, and previous planning data. Implementing this data was also challenging as some of the formats given were not ideal for our use case. Software wise we were also very limited as there are only a few generative techniques to create urban models.
