Inspiration
Cities waste millions every year sending garbage trucks on fixed schedules — emptying half-full bins while others overflow onto the streets. We wanted to fix that with a simple, scalable IoT solution.
What it does
FillAlert monitors garbage bins in real time using an ultrasonic sensor mounted inside the bin. It calculates the fill level as a percentage and pushes that data to a live dashboard showing every bin on a map, color coded by urgency. When a bin hits 80% capacity, it automatically sends an SMS alert to the waste collection depot so trucks are dispatched only where they're actually needed.
