Inspiration
We have always noticed censorship, no freedom, limited amount of resources and storage when uploading or working with file storages, Such as Google drive, Mega and more. This inspired us to make a platform, where everyone can have their say. They should have complete freedom to upload anything without censorship and no limits.
What it does
The Filenode is an IPFS peer that runs on your computer, so you can share files or folders, instantly. Just drag and drop the files you want to share! Whether you are looking to collaborate with friends on computing homework, backup some sensitive files on a decentralized network, or reduce your carbon footprint by hosting everything locally - Filenodes are your solution.
How we built it
We used IPFS, A peer-to-peer hypermedia protocol designed to preserve and grow humanity's knowledge by making the web upgradeable, resilient, and more open to build it. For the Frontend, We used Next.js framework, which is amazing and also is dynamic, along with Chakra UI to style the site beautifully.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're extremely proud of pulling this project in a short time. We're looking forward to expanding even further, to make not only files, but notes, link shorteners and more decentralized to give freedom of speech, and usage. Making everything better and providing power to people.
What we learned
We learnt more about working and building clean, neat yet astounding UI with Chakra UI framework. While learning more about Web3, decentralized architecture, and not to forget IPFS. These were just amazing.
What's next for FileNode
We are in the process of planning to optimize it heavily by minifying the bundle, adding dynamic components to load less JS on visit, and lot more. We're also planning for lot of inbuilt features, to get people into the IPFS ecosystem with ease.
We're also planning for metamask account integration to easily get account info and save it, so people can access the history, anywhere, anytime they want with improvements such as larger files, multiple file types and lot more.
