Inspiration

Every day, over 3 million accounting professionals worldwide manage hundreds of client filings using spreadsheets and memory. In India alone, 5 lakh CA firms handle crores of filings every year. One missed deadline means a real financial penalty for a real person. No simple and affordable tool existed for small CA firms. That gap inspired us to build FiledUp.

What it does

FiledUp gives CA firms one simple dashboard to track every client's compliance filings in real time. The CA adds a client, selects which filings apply to them, and sets the due dates. From that point everything is visible in one place — what is filed, what is coming up, and what needs urgent attention. No spreadsheets. No missed deadlines

What we learned

Before building FiledUp we had no idea how complex a CA's daily work actually is. The deeper we went the more we realized how underserved this problem was. We also learned that building without code does not mean building without effort. Explaining a problem clearly to an AI is a skill in itself. Every vague instruction created a wrong result. Clarity and precision matter more than we expected.

How we built it

We built FiledUp on Lovable without writing a single line of code. We described what we wanted, tested it, refined it, and kept going until everything worked. The entire product was built through prompting and iteration.

Challenges we ran into

•Wrong due dates assumed automatically. The app pre filled due dates without asking. Every client is different so this was wrong. We fixed it so the CA always confirms or sets every due date manually before saving. •Dashboard showing too many items at once. Every filing was showing as a separate item resulting in 50 plus things on screen at once. We restructured the dashboard to group filings by category — GST, Income Tax, TDS/TCS, and ROC — making it clean and easy to act on. •Calendar view was not showing correct filings. When we built the calendar deadline view the filings were not mapping correctly to their due dates. Some filings were appearing on wrong dates and some were not appearing at all. It took multiple iterations to get every filing type showing on the correct date for the correct client. •Keeping the dashboard simple without losing information. The biggest design challenge was deciding what to show on the dashboard and what to hide. Showing everything made it overwhelming. Showing too little made it useless. Finding the right balance — where a CA could understand everything on screen in under 10 seconds took significant iteration and testing.
