Our team will integrate the BIP38 open-source standard into the IPFS ecosystem. We will develop a cold wallet solution that supports the decentralized storage of filecoin, so that its ecological assets can be safely stored offline. This solution will provide developers, investors with safe and simple asset storage tools. It will lower the technical barrier to entry for people to participate in the IPFS ecosystem in the future, thereby expanding its potential community base.

In order to achieve our objective, we will need to conduct further study of IPFS technology and then design a specific BIP38 wallet adaptation scheme that enables air-gapped transaction signing . A truly secure and convenient implementation will require deep research and testing.

Once we integrate the BIP38 technology into the IPFS ecosystem, we will begin research and development of compatible hardware wallets. Users will not need to go through complicated configuration operations. Ballet wallets will provide a simple way to obtain the address of Filecoin digital assets. This address is the key to enter the IPFS ecosystem and experience IPFS ecosystem services. This key has great significance and far-reaching influence on the expansion of the entire IPFS ecosystem. This storage solution will enable existing IPFS ecosystem users to enjoy a more secure, convenient cold storage solution for Filecoin. Applications in IPFS can be made compatible with Ballet’s solution so that users can skip the step of obtaining addresses and instead focus more on the IPFS Application itself. The technical barrier to entry will be reduced, empowering a new wave of mainstream users to fully participate in the IPFS network. IPFS ecosystem developers will save time and effort by implementing the BIP38-based address generation methodology that this grant will help us develop.

Our goal is to help the existing IPFS ecosystem expand its user base by building better cold storage solutions that save development time and resources at the user address level.
