Inspiration
We were inspired to make this prototype from the game 'Dorfromantik', a jam game that Matt has been following since it first got made in a competition like this one.
What it does
Fief Lord is a 3d strategy, city building puzzle game in which you are tasked with putting together tiles of houses and buildings to create the largest city you can without running out of tiles.
How we built it
We built the entire game using the Unity game engine in 24 hours. All 3 members contributed to both code and modelling in the game.
Challenges we ran into
This was a demanding project. It was hard to keep focus after working non-stop for the full 24 hour period and was quite difficult to keep pace and fix problems in the code with a hard time limit looming over our heads.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
All in all, we're really proud of most of our prototypes! We set ourselves goals to meet and for the most part, met or exceeded them. The end product, while by no means perfect, came to be very similar to what we initially envisioned and all in the span of a day.
What we learned
We learned a lot from this project! Mostly about working better as a team and ways to iron out kinks more smoothly when they come up in the future.
What's next for Fief Lord
This was a pretty promising project! We may come back to it one day and take a look at making this into a real published game.
