Inspiration
We saw can fencing videos on TikTok and Instagram and it inspired us to make a desktop version.
What it does
The model primarily has a swinging motion with a hammer and catapult attachment on the end. It can either be used with another model to fight, or can launch a ball into a basketball net. The model is customize able to allow for various attachments to be added to it.
How we built it
We primarily built the files on Solidworks and Inventor, then slowly 3D printed our creations. After all of our parts were created, we assembled them into one model.
Challenges we ran into
The parts didn't fit together even after considering for clearance fit, so we had to shave off some of the plastic to make it fit. The long wait for the 3D print times also meant our final demonstration wasn't as complete as we hoped.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a working model that simulates a working hammer and catapult movement. Our idea of creating a customize able model was achieved.
What we learned
Given more time and resources, proper prototyping of the model would have been extremely helpful. It would have allowed to pinpoint the issues in our design and achieve all of our goals.
What's next for Fidget Inc.
We hope to build more attachments for further models in the future. Adding more ways to customize our model means more possibilities to expand our designs.
