Inspiration

We saw that traditional account opening processes take 15-30 minutes, use confusing jargon, and cause 68% of first-time investors to abandon applications. We were inspired to use AI not just for efficiency, but to create a welcoming, confidence-building experience that makes investing accessible to everyone, including those with disabilities.

What it does

QuickVest AI transforms investment account opening from a 30-minute ordeal into a 3-5 minute guided journey powered by three AI features. Users can instantly scan their ID to auto-fill forms, chat with an AI assistant for step-specific guidance, and receive personalized investment recommendations based on their goals and risk tolerance. The platform combines bank-level security with WCAG 2.1 accessibility compliance, ensuring everyone can confidently start their investment journey.

How we built it

We built QuickVest using React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS for a responsive, accessible frontend with a component-based architecture. Google Gemini 2.5 Flash powers three distinct AI features: Vision AI for document scanning/OCR, conversational AI for the chat assistant, and generative AI for personalized investment profiling. We implemented client-side SHA-256 encryption for sensitive data, designed custom animations for engagement, and ensured WCAG accessibility compliance throughout the entire user flow.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating Gemini Vision AI for document scanning required extensive prompt engineering to reliably extract structured data from diverse ID formats with 95%+ accuracy. Implementing secure SSN handling was complex—we built a custom masked input component with client-side encryption while preventing accidental plaintext exposure. Balancing our stunning portal/market/crypto animations with performance and accessibility (ensuring they didn't interfere with screen readers or keyboard navigation) required careful optimization and testing.

We created a modern and engaging interface that feels like a top-tier fintech app. Our AI-powered document scanner quickly extracts and verifies user information, while the platform seamlessly combines document scanning, chat guidance, and personalized recommendations into one smooth onboarding experience. What we learned

We learned that effective AI integration isn't about flashy features—it's about solving real pain points at the exact moment users need help. Accessibility and beautiful design aren't opposing forces; thoughtful implementation of WCAG standards actually improves UX for all users, not just those with disabilities. We discovered that building trust in financial applications requires transparent AI explanations, robust fallback mechanisms when APIs fail, and clear security messaging that doesn't overwhelm users with technical jargon.

We plan to expand document support to include international IDs, passports, and proof-of-address documents using enhanced Gemini Vision capabilities.
