Inspiration

To help millions of college students in the world plagued with the student loan debt crisis.

What it does

It is an application made for college students to plan and track their study loans, with a credit score algorithm built into it. An interest rate is then given to students based on their credit score when they graduate to help reduce their debt.

How we built it

We built the app from scratch by using Flutter. The presentation was done using Canva and ShotCut.

Challenges we ran into

It was everyone's first time at a hackathon, and we all had no experience in terms of developing the app and presentation to the judges. Our team is composed of members in three different time zones which made it difficult to meet during regular hours.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to build the application in a very short time frame of 36 hours, as well as delivering a satisfactory presentation to the judges.

What we learned

A lot of technical skills were learnt on the fly as we had no experience at all developing an app and presenting it. In Flutter, we learnt the functionalities of many widgets and how to use them effectively. We also learnt how to develop good presentations and use video editing software. Some soft skills we learnt are project management and communication which was key in our success in developing the application.

What's next for FiCRED

We hope that the application gets integrated into banks or gives some inspiration to the financial institutions out there to alleviate the student loan debt crisis.
