Inspiration
Both Alex Gluchowski and Stani Kulechov said one of the biggest challenges for crypto adoption is UX. Web3 UX needs to at leach match, ideally overcome, the UX of Web2. We could not agree more.
We are massive believers in Web3 and want to contribute to making it more usable. That's why we built Fiat transactions for DeFi.
What it does
It lets people use DeFi with Apple Pay.
Many people use Apple or Google Pay for everyday finance.
DeFi has a ton to offer, but the barrier to entry is massive. We want to lower it, so we built fiat transactions in DeFi.
Wallets and dApps can integrate our infrastructure, powered by Ramp, to enable DeFi interactions. Examples:
- Take a loan on Aave with Apple Pay
- Deposit into a TrueFi farm to earn yield with Apple Pay
- Mint an NFT with Apple Pay
How we built it
We use Ramp to exchange from fiat to USDC. The USDC is sent to a hot wallet powered by Tenderly. When the USDC arrives, Tenderly will call Wido Router Smart Contracts, responsible for shipping the USDC into the destination smart contract.
Challenges we ran into
- Getting KYC on Ramp :)
- Apple Pay only works on production, so we were not able to use testnets
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successful integration of Ramp and e2e demo of the flow: Apple Pay to a deposit into a Tenderly farm to earn yield.
What we learned
People around were very friendly, and everyone was helpful. We plan to come again!
What's next for Fiat transactions in DeFi by Wido
We want to talk with Ramp and other onramp providers and get them to integrate our routing infrastructure to enable fiat interaction with DeFi.
We will also chat with wallets and dApps to integrate our SDK.
