Inspiration
We were inspired by the idea of time as a tangible, interactive element. What if the past, present, and future weren’t just concepts but a puzzle you could manipulate? We wanted players to experience the thrill of navigating a world that changes and deteriorates with time, where every choice affects what spaces are accessible.
What it does
In our game, players explore a mysterious laboratory/school using a time-swapping stopwatch. They can jump between the past, present, and future, but the world isn’t static. Hallways that are open in the past may be destroyed in the future, and walls that block the path in the past might crumble over time. Players must strategically navigate, solving puzzles by exploiting these temporal shifts.
How we built it
Roblox
Challenges we ran into
A ton of debugs and animation was not loading
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Managing to make a time reversal system
What we learned
We learned a lot about game design, scripting, and player psychology. Manipulating a world across different timelines requires careful planning and attention to detail. We also learned the importance of playtesting, as the puzzles only shine when they are intuitive but still challenging
What's next for FutureGram
Next, we want to expand the game world, add more intricate puzzles, and introduce time-based hazards that further challenge the player’s strategy. We also aim to make the storyline more immersive, so players feel like they’re unraveling a mystery across time itself.
