Inspiration

We had a neighbour — a small family of three: a mother, a father, and their 5-year-old son. Every month, the father worked two weeks of night shifts, which meant he was often unavailable to his family during those nights.

One such night, the little boy developed a high fever and began showing symptoms resembling dengue — pain behind the eyes and mild nosebleeds. The mother grew extremely anxious but, since it was late at night, she couldn’t reach out for help or take her son to the hospital. Unsure of what to do and with no reliable source of guidance, she decided to wait until morning.

By the next day, her son’s condition had worsened, and she was filled with regret. She later said, “If only I had found a clear, trustworthy guideline or remedy — instead of scrolling through countless videos and reels — I could have given my child the care he needed sooner.”

This experience highlights the importance of accessible, accurate, and immediate medical guidance, especially during emergencies like fever. It’s real stories like this that inspired us to create FeverEase — an AI-powered chatbot designed to guide people with timely, reliable health advice when they need it most.

What it does

  1. Symptom analysis the chatbot understands and interprets symptomes such as fever , headaches , rashes or body pain using trained medical datasets
  2. Instant guidance it provides personalized recommendations - whether to manage the fever at home , take over-the-counter medicines or seek medical attention
  3. Reduced search time it minimizes the amount of time waste on unreliable online searches by delivering instant, accurate and personalized fever guidance in just one chat
  4. AI- Driven Understanding with google Gemini-AI integration , FeverEase gives context-aware and human like responses, improving accuracy and user trust
  5. Safe and data based advice All recommendations are backed by verified medical sources and triage logic , avoiding misinformation

How we built it

We built FeverEase by blending medical knowledge,AI technology and chatbot interface to deliver instant and reliable fever guidance

  1. Data preparation - Medical based dataset from WHO , IMA and research paper Used verified medical datasets on symptoms , causes and treatments .
  2. Decision Trees : designed Triage-based logic to access symptoms severity .
  3. AI integration : Integrated Google GeminiAI for natural , human-like conversations
  4. frontend: built with React, Tailwind CSS and Shadcn UI for responsive interface
  5. Backend : We have used Python ( FastAPI) and Supabase for storage , authentication and chat history

Challenges we ran into

1.Ensuring medical accuracy: Aligning AI-generated advice with verified medical data and standard treatment protocols. 2.Handling vague symptom inputs: Users often describe symptoms in non-medical terms, making natural language understanding crucial. 3.Balancing simplicity and safety: Designing short, clear responses while maintaining medical reliability. 4.Data privacy: Ensuring that sensitive health inputs remain secure and confidential. 5.Decision tree complexity: Creating structured triage logic that covers various fever-related scenarios without confusion.

** Accomplishments that we're proud of**

That accessible technology can truly make a difference in rural and underserved communities. ## What's next for FeverEase - Connecting patients to care through AI ** We plan to expand FeverEase beyond fever management into a comprehensive AI health companion. **Our upcoming goals include: 1.Doctor Integration: Allow users to connect with real, certified doctors for advanced care when needed. 2.Multi-language Support: Make the chatbot accessible to regional users across India. 3.Wearable Device Integration: Use temperature and heart rate data for early fever detection. 4.Disease Expansion: Extend the platform to address other common illnesses like flu, cold, and viral infections. 5.AI Learning Enhancement: Continuously train the system with real-world feedback for higher accuracy and empathy.
